Yorkshire

One of the most well known regions. The province excludes North Lincolnshire [conjoined into the currently defined region] . South Yorkshire is included in Danelaga [with concessions to respect the traditional county heritage of Sheffield - see Danelaga ]. The resulting region is unique in only including one traditional county, and with the County name remaining unchanged. The provincial geography is clearly demarked by the Humber to the south, Pennines to the West and River Tees to the North. The bi-polar Leeds Bradford conurbation represents the province as a dominant and vibrant capital. The region is a well known destination having an especially high representation of National Parks.

Flag - ‘Yorkshire rose’

A slightly modified version of the Yorkshire flag [below right] is proposed for provincial use. This is to allow the traditional version to be maintained for the original county. The Scandinavian cross format is maintained, with a little change to the rose, having three petals for the three ridings, which is intended to give more visual emphasis to the Y layout of the flower.
