The passenger would then be able to select from a range of seats graded by cost. The system would be amenable to regular travelers who might participate in club-card schemes to assure them the availability of preferred seats at selected journey times. Remaining available first class seats could be auctioned depending on synchronous demand.
The comprehensive monitoring of seats' availability throughout the network at any moment creates powerful opportunities. Total operational control in supplying rush hour demand peaks, would be feasible, and this would help re-dress surplus capacity at quiet times. Variations in demand could be further lessened through interactive pricing which capitalise on rush hour peak's to subsidize afternoon demand troughs; for the benefit of pensioners, students or welfare claimant's.
After a passenger has input his journey requirements, the touch sensitive VDU screen displays pertinent information, such as his allocated seat number, estimated time of arrival, and where / when to change lines. Each seat could have an LED showing the seats’ number and might flash to the occupant to warn it's time to prepare for disembarkation from the mother vehicle.
