The private car affords flexibility and, equally important, personal space in which to travel. The proposed system addresses the need for flexibility, and within a given journey timeframe should offer a wide range of destinations, at lower cost, than a car could access through normal road congestion. In pursuit of consumer demand for personal space during a journey, guaranteed seats offering various personal options could help release travel time to productive human activity over longer journeys.

  • Internet service, accessible through a laptop for personal and business communication, to an allow passengers to network on projects while on the move and provide information on local services.
  • Integral personal entertainment may be available offering simple audio services through short-range micro-speakers. T.V. and video lounge seats could be another option.
  • Special seats for mothers with adjacent bays for prams or shopping trolleys beside.
  • Special bays for safe parking of wheel chairs during transit for the disabled.

Clearly there would be overlap between the various options, to allow for differing vehicle population profiles. For example, an unused disabled bay might be utilized by shopping trolleys.
